Restaurant Constructed from 19 Salvaged Containers

2/15/2017

THIS 6,000-SQUARE-FOOT PREFAB DESIGN IN ASHEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA, FEATURES ARTWORK AND FURNITURE CRAFTED BY LOCALS.

In a poetic twist, the site of the Smoky Park Supper Club in Asheville, North Carolina was once a dumping ground sandwiched between a bridge of the same name and a railway. The site's owner envisioned a more sustainable approach to the land, he wanted to build a restaurant. The eatery he had in mind would be made entirely of salvaged shipping containers fastened together like oversized Legos in a sprawling, unified design. Nineteen containers were re-purposed to let in sunlight while maintaining the most of their structural integrity. On the inside, in solidarity with the surrounding River Arts District, the works of a local muralist and craftsmen add warmth to the space.

What Our Clients Are Saying

"The Container Factory (TCF) was very professional and customer oriented, as they provided exceptional customer service. The Container Bistro project  was a great success and  a very easy one for me. The contract went very smoothly and TCF did an outstanding job in all areas of their performance. (I) would award to them in the future without any hesitation."

– Peter Smith, Founder of Container Bistrol Ethopia
